Uganda’s 2025 Skater of the Year is about to take home a 1 million UGX cash prize and the streets are already hyped!
The USOTY competition is all about recognizing skaters who put in the work and show up on their boards day after day.
Nsubuga Gerald, the founder of the Uganda Skateboard Society, shared how important it is to celebrate the skaters grinding every day.
This year the prizes are set to reward that effort. The winner of USOTY will get 1 million UGX, the first runner up will walk away with 500,000 UGX, the second runner up takes 250,000 UGX and third place earns 100,000 UGX.
The event is supported by the Uganda Skateboard Society and Thrasher Magazine, giving it a big boost from both local and international communities.
This competition has been growing fast and it’s bringing skaters of all ages together. It’s more than just showing tricks, it’s about connecting with other skaters, getting respect from the community, and being recognized for the grind.
Gerald says it’s about giving props to everyone in the game, whether you’re killing it on the board or just starting to turn heads.
