Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk peeled back the curtain on the backend of touring that unfolded during the 90s in "Birdhouse Skateboarding Tours" with tensions that stirred by fellow skateboarder Steve Berra.
In the Hawk Vs. Wolf podcast, they discussed about the skate demos and the riders that are not skating due to an attitude.
Their guest skate icon Heath Kirchart asked who was the skater that were causing the drama and not participating on demos.
Hawk try to veer away from naming the skateboarder but ended up saying it was Berra since Heath said it was 30 years ago and nobody will care.
According to the Birdman, one of the focal points of the backstage drama was the divide between the front and back of the touring van.
Pro skater Jeremy Klein, situated in the front, assumed the dual role of driver and DJ. Meanwhile, in the back of the van, Berra found himself at the center of the brewing tension.
Berra's emotion played a crucial role in the tension. The clash of personalities and the emotional rollercoaster fueled divide within the Birdhouse team.
Co-host Jason Ellis echoed Hawk's sentiments, describing Berra as an emotional guy who, unwittingly perhaps, became the reason for the tensions that characterized the 90s Birdhouse Tours.
