Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has been a free agent in his skate shoe department for a while now after parting ways with Vans back in July 2023.
Without a shoe sponsor, The Birdman has decided to take it into his own hands and bring back his classic "Hawk Skate Shoes."
In an Instagram post, the 56-year-old tried to relearn the frontside heelflip from his trick tip back in 2000. He thanked The Secret Tape Instagram account for the challenge and also mentioned that he was wearing the first footwear.
With Nike, Adidas, and New Balance dominating the skateboard shoe market, Hawk shoes will need the core skaters' backing to invigorate the skateboarder-owned shoe game.
Stay tuned for more updates on the release date and where you can snag a pair of these iconic shoes.
Hawk posted, "Had to confer with my former self (from our first trick tips video, circa 2000) to relearn front heels today. Thanks to @thesecrettape for posing this challenge.
Unrelated: I’m 56, and wearing the first @hawkskateshoes samples of a new era.
