Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has gifted the astounding skateboarder Felipe Nunes new prosthetic legs along with Davison Fortunato's help to provide more options for his daily life.
Nunes, like other handicapped skaters across the country, struggled at times over the past filming and skating the streets for a video part. Those tasks alone are difficult to achieve, especially when you have an impairment. As a human being, you also want to try other things such as biking and other activities without the peculiar looks of other people.
"I asked Felipe Nunes a while back if he ever tried prosthetic legs, or if they even interested him." Tony Hawk posted. "He said he tried some about five years ago but they didn’t fit properly and were poorly constructed; skateboarding was a better mode of transport comparatively."
"But he would like to someday try “cycling, walking, and chilling down the street without receiving strange looks... and to hit the bar with homies.” Thanks to a fortuitous connection I recently made, Medical Center Prosthetics took the first step (npi) today in making that a reality."
Hawk continued. "Felipe has a long way to go in getting used to having legs but he’s excited for the challenge. I know this won’t change his passion for his phenomenally unique skating style but I was honored to help - along with Davison Fortunato - to provide more options for his daily life."
