Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk is adding another business venture to his growing list of projects, this time by stepping into Detroit's restaurant scene.

The Birdhouse Skateboards head honcho has partnered with Detroit chef George Azar to open A Toda Madre, a new Mexican restaurant that will become part of the city's growing collection of dining and cultural destinations on the east side.
The restaurant will be located at The Shepherd, a cultural arts center that has become home to several popular food and entertainment concepts.
According to an announcement shared on Instagram, A Toda Madre aims to combine Mexican cuisine with art, music, and culture, creating a welcoming space where people can gather and enjoy more than just a meal.

The addition continues The Shepherd's vision of bringing different creative experiences together in one location.
This is not Hawk's first experience in the restaurant business. He is also involved with Chick & Hawk, a chicken restaurant in Encinitas, California.
While most people recognize him for his decades of influence in skateboarding, Hawk has continued to expand his interests through business partnerships and community focused projects.
Chef George Azar brings plenty of experience to the collaboration. He is the chef behind Flowers of Vietnam, a restaurant in Southwest Detroit that has earned praise for its creative menu and fresh approach to Vietnamese cuisine.
His work has made him one of the city's respected culinary figures, making this partnership an interesting combination of Detroit's local restaurant talent and one of skateboarding's most recognizable personalities.
One feature that will set A Toda Madre apart is its outdoor terrace.
Guests will be able to enjoy their meals while watching skateboarders ride at Tony Hawk's nearby skatepark, creating a unique dining experience that blends food with skate culture.
The setting also connects with the surrounding Little Village Detroit development near Parkview and Agnes, an area that continues to welcome new businesses and attractions.
The Shepherd already houses destinations such as Warda Patisserie and Father Forgive Me, and the arrival of A Toda Madre adds another reason for both locals and visitors to stop by.
By combining quality food with art, music, and an active skate scene just outside its doors, the restaurant hopes to become a gathering place that fits naturally into Detroit's growing cultural district.
