The boss of the bosses, Tim Pool, has some strong words for the skateboarding industry when it comes to dealing with the effects of President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
His solution? Keep it local with American-made products.
The Boonies CEO explains that The Boonies’ decks are priced at just $55 each because they’re made right here in the U.S.
We previously reported that the price of decks had increased to $90 and the griptape to $15.
However, Pool made sure to keep their decks at a price of $55 to help skaters, despite the pressures from rising production costs.

According to him, this local production approach has worked out better than expected. Not only are the prices accessible, but the demand is through the roof.
In fact, Pool mentions that his pro boards alone have already sold about 3,000 units, at $55 a pop. That’s a pretty impressive number for a product that’s still relatively new in the market.
Pool is quick to point out that it's not just about keeping costs low. It's about supporting the local economy and ensuring that the skateboarding community thrives without relying on imports that could get hit hard by tariffs.
Pool is advocating for more skate companies to follow suit, creating a ripple effect that could help the entire industry grow.
By investing in American production, the skateboarding world might not only be able to handle the pressures of tariffs but also strengthen the community it serves.
The De Trans Flip inventor believes that when you build it locally and make sure it's something skaters can afford, you don’t just survive in a tough market - you thrive.
The Boonies is living proof of that concept, and Pool hopes other skateboarding companies will take notice.
If the demand for American-made products keeps up, we might see a shift where more and more skaters support brands that put local production first.
This could be the key to growing the industry, even in tough economic times.
