The Boonies skateboarding CEO Tim Pool is once again making noise outside of politics.
This time, it's over a symbol that many in the skateboarding community thought was gone for good.
The old Independent Truck Company Iron Cross logo was quietly removed from the brand’s identity after years of criticism.
The logo had become controversial due to its resemblance to imagery used by hate groups. Under public pressure and shifting public opinion, Independent stopped using it and moved forward with a cleaner and less controversial look.
But Pool wasn’t ready to let it go. According to him, the graphic was abandoned, and that made it fair game.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Pool wrote:
“WOKE IS BROKE
They canceled the old Independent logo and the company abandoned it.
Well we brought it back.”

On Instagram, he followed up with:
“THE OLD INDY LOGO IS OURS. The LOGO was abandoned by Independent after being called racist. Get your board now from @boonieshq.”
President Donald Trump's White House correspondent has not only used the logo in Boonies promotions but has embraced the controversy around it.
Reactions have been all over the place. Supporters see the move as reclaiming something that never should have been dropped.
Others feel the logo’s return ignores its complicated associations. Many in the core community are still debating the logo’s meaning and the intentions behind its use.
Independent Truck Company has not made any public statements about Pool’s claim to the logo. Their social media and product lines have continued without reference to the Iron Cross for some time now.
