According to reports, the Bend location closed on September 27, with employees learning about the decision just three days earlier.
For those who worked there, the closure came as a difficult surprise after spending years building relationships with customers, riders and other members of the community.
Tactics first opened in Eugene in 1999 before arriving in Bend a decade ago. Over the years, the shop became a regular meeting spot for skaters, employees and pros.
The shop supported Board House Society, a local nonprofit that brings skateboarding programs to schools and other community settings.
Since the organization launched in 2024, the shop provided items such as wheels and grip tape for its programs, along with products for giveaways and events.
The store also played a role in supporting local riders who were working toward professional careers.
Tactics team rider Nora Beck described the shop as a central gathering spot for Bend's skate and snowboard scene, with professional riders and younger skaters regularly crossing paths there.

That made the closure especially difficult for people who had spent years around the shop.
Losing the physical location also means losing a regular place where riders could meet, hang out and connect outside of the skatepark or mountain.
For many former employees and customers, the people behind the counter were just as important as the products on the shelves.
After 10 years, Tactics is no longer operating its Bend location.
The shop may be gone, but the relationships it built in the scene and organizations remain part of the city's skateboarding history.
