Pro skater Ryan Townley and Welcome Skateboards have officially gone their separate ways.
After a decade of riding together, the brand shared the news with a short but emotional post that caught a lot of people off guard.
“Where did the time go?! Farewell Ryan Townley, thank you for 10 years. Goodluck on your future plans, we love you ❤️ 🫂”
Ten years is a long run in skateboarding, and Townley’s time with Welcome goes back to the brand’s early days.
He was there as the company grew from a smaller, outsider label into something instantly recognizable. His skating, personality, and artwork all felt right at home with Welcome’s weird and dark look, and it never felt like he was just another name on the roster.
Townley became one of those riders people strongly connected with. His style was raw, creative, and unpredictable, which lined up perfectly with Welcome’s identity.
A lot of fans discovered the brand through his videos, boards, and appearances, so seeing this chapter close feels strange for anyone who has followed both for a long time.
Neither side has shared details about why the split happened, and that is probably intentional.
The message from Welcome was nothing but love, which suggests this was handled with respect on both ends. No drama, no public tension, just a clear moment of appreciation for what they built together.
As for what comes next, Townley has not announced his next move yet. Given his history, it would not be surprising to see him take on new projects, work with different brands, or lean further into his art and creative interests.
Whatever direction he chooses, people will definitely be paying attention.
