Sandlot Times Skateboards head honcho Ryan Sheckler is almost hitting six years sober and he’s keeping it 100 about how much better life feels without alcohol.
TMZ caught up with him at LAX and he was all smiles talking about skating, family, and staying clean.
"I'm heading to Paris to skate," he said. "Honestly, I thought I was done with competing, but I’m skating smoother than ever."
The 35-year-old husband and dad of two says he decided to quit drinking back in March 2020 after realizing he was messing up not just his life but the lives of the people he loves.
"I wasn’t just hurting myself," he said. "I was messing up for the people who really care about me. Once that hit me, I couldn’t just keep going the way I was."
Now, he says every day feels better than the last. "There’s nothing like it," he added. "Life feels real, solid, and I can actually enjoy it."
Sheckler is also working on a movie called Dream where he plays a cop. He said stepping into that role has been easy and he’s enjoying the work.
For Shecks, staying sober is about more than just skipping alcohol.
It’s about being there for his family, skating with focus, and keeping his head right. He’s proof that even after rough times, you can still come up, do your thing, and enjoy life on your own terms.
