Ocala skaters and locals have something special to look forward to as Ocala Recreation and Parks teams up with The Board to celebrate the completion of the Ocala Skate Park expansion on March 28, 2026.

The park has been upgraded and reopened with more space to skate, more ways to use it, and more reasons for the community to come together.

The celebration is a free, family-friendly event and is open to everyone.

Music will be playing throughout the day, food trucks will be on site, and skaters of different ages and skill levels can jump into trick competitions.

There will also be prizes and giveaways, making it a great day out even for people who are just coming to watch and hang out.

A big highlight of the event is a visit from Rodney Mullen.

He will be part of the ribbon cutting ceremony and will spend time meeting attendees. For many skaters, this is a rare chance to see and hear from someone who helped shape how street skating looks and feels today.

Mullen is known for creating tricks that are now part of everyday skate sessions around the world, including the kickflip, heelflip, and 360 flip.

He is a member of the Skateboarding Hall of Fame and has appeared in influential skate films and video games that introduced skating to new audiences over the years.

The expanded Ocala Skate Park brings more variety to the layout, with added street elements and bowl features.

The design improves flow and gives skaters more lines to work with, while also allowing the park to host larger contests and organized programs.

These upgrades open the door for more community activities and regional skate events, making the park a stronger hub for local skating.

After the daytime celebration wraps up, the evening continues at the Marion Theatre with a free screening of Bones Brigade An Autobiography.

The film runs from 6 to 9 p.m., with a Q and A session featuring Rodney Mullen from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Rated PG, the documentary looks back at the rise of the Bones Brigade team and the skaters who helped shape modern skateboarding.
