Pro skateboarder Gabriel "Gabbers" Summers has officially left Zero Skateboards.
As we previously reported, he hasn’t spelled out every detail about why he bounced, only saying that there was someone on the team he didn’t really click with.
But things got more interesting when The Nine Muses podcaster and brand owner Robert Brink shared an alleged Thrasher interview with Gabbers and threw some serious support his way.
Brink called Gabbers “a real one” and didn’t mince his words about Jamie Thomas, calling him a “weirdo.”
In the alleged interview, Gabbers talked about what pushed him to leave.
He explained that he had wanted to leave for a long time, but the situation around Chris Cole really pushed him over the edge.
According to Gabbers, the way the company handled the allegations didn’t sit right with him. He felt like the response was dismissive, like the message was, “You don’t get to complain, be grateful you have a career.”
He even pressed Zero Skateboards head honcho Jamie Thomas to issue a statement because riding for a company that stayed quiet felt wrong to him.
Gabbers said it seemed like the company was letting certain behavior slide, and he didn’t feel comfortable being part of that.
Gabbers also mentioned that while Cole was eventually let go, it happened quietly, under the table. For him, it showed that the way the company handled things didn’t sit right, even if they were trying to cover themselves.
He felt it confirmed that leaving was the best move.
Brink shared the following post on Instagram to highlight Gabbers’ stance:
"From the new Thrasher. Shoutout @gabrielsummers1 for being a real one.
There's still much to be told about Jamie, by the way. Dude's a fuckin' weirdo and I'm not finished yet."
For legal reasons, we cannot comment on the allegations involving Cole. This piece only reflects what Brink shared and what Gabbers allegedly said in the interview.
No claim about the allegations themselves is being made or confirmed here.
