Thrasher magazine has unveiled a Ukraine skateboarding documentary to pay homage to the Ukrainian skateboarders and the people afflicted by the current war that is currently happening as Russia widens attacks on cities.
The film focuses from the first skater until today, passionately finding a way to make it happen in an unlikely place. Regrettably, their story gained a new significance when Russia launched an unjust war on Ukraine, the tragic results of which are still unfolding every day.
Skate bible started the project to tell the story of Kyiv's city square, a legendary skate spot, and political landmark. Hence, when the crew completed the documentary in 2021, they could never imagine what transpired in Ukraine soon after.
Thrasher hopes that the film can give the world a relatable view into a conflict that we mainly experience through headlines and news stories.
To protect all the resilient Ukrainian skateboarders affected by the tragedy, Thrasher removed the names of the film's subjects for security purposes.
