San Francisco has lost one of its most respected skate figures.
Skate legend Mickey Reyes has passed away, leaving behind homies, skaters, family and countless people who knew him through the city’s skate scene.
Thrasher shared the news with an emotional tribute, remembering Reyes as someone who represented SF in a way few others could.
For those who knew the city and its skate culture, Mickey was much more than a familiar face around the scene.
Reyes came up during an important era for SF skateboarding, surrounded by the concrete spots and streets that helped shape the city’s identity.
He earned respect for his tough presence, but those close to him also knew there was a deeply caring side behind that exterior.
His connection to DLXSF ran deep.
As a lifetime member of the Deluxe family, Reyes was much more than a team manager.
He became someone people could turn to, offering advice, protection and support to the skaters around him.
Thrasher described Mickey as a father figure and a calming presence. When he had your back, you knew you had someone in your corner.
His influence also reached beyond skateboarding.
Mickey built relationships that lasted for years and became part of the lives of many people around him.
His role within the community was not simply tied to his work. He was someone people trusted and cared about.
Thrasher also pointed toward another important part of his life. Mickey was a father who deeply loved his family, and his daughter Dakota was at the heart of that.
The skate community is now remembering Mickey for the person he was both within the scene and away from it.
His story was tied closely to SF, DLXSF and the people he looked after throughout the years.
Big Mic FOREVER. ❤️

"If you know Thrasher, you know that we hold our home, San Francisco, in the highest regard. So it is with the heaviest of hearts that we mourn the passing of a man who embodied The City like no other.
Mickey Reyes was an icon of an era defined by the concrete of our seven-by-seven jungle. Though tough and well respected, behind the brawn he carried a profound heart of red and gold.
His legacy sprung from the streets but extended far beyond them. A lifetime member of the Deluxe family, Mickey was more than a team manager. He was a father figure, a calming presence and a security blanket. If Mickey had your back, you knew you were solid.
Most importantly, there is life after skateboarding. Mickey leaves behind a family he loved beyond measure. We send all our love and support to his daughter, Dakota.
Big Mic FOREVER ❤️- TV"
