A court has given Mexican pro skater Mario Sáenz an amparo, putting parts of his case back under review.

This comes after reports confirmed that Sáenz was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the feminicide of his ex girlfriend.

The ruling does not clear him or erase the sentence, but it does reopen parts of the case because of issues with how the trial was handled.

After the news broke, Sáenz shared posts on Instagram through accounts supporting him, and his fan base jumped on it fast.

A lot of the skaters in Mexico are taking the amparo as a sign that he could get out, even though legally it only means the court is looking again at the process, not the facts of the killing.

For now, the conviction still stands while the review plays out.

One of the posts making the rounds came from @penitencia_mx, which painted the decision as a win for justice and due process.

The message says that when the rules are followed, justice can move forward, and that the case will keep being watched closely with the help of his lawyer Erik Rauda.

It also repeats a line often used by prison rights groups saying that every innocent person locked up leaves a guilty person free on the street.

Supporters flooded the comments with hope and praise, believing this could lead to his release.

Others pushed back, saying an amparo does not mean he is innocent and does not undo the guilty verdict for killing his ex girlfriend.

As things stand now, Sáenz remains in prison while the courts go back over parts of the case and see what happens next.

When due process is respected, justice begins to walk in.
