Transgender professional skateboarder Luiza Marchiori says she lost nearly 100,000 followers after speaking out about her political views and supporting Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil.
Marchiori said she would rather lose followers than her conscience. She also discussed how exposing racism, homophobia, misogyny and xenophobia in politics can reveal that some voters support a candidate because of those very views.
Lula has expressed support for LGBTQIA+ rights, which aligns with the values Marchiori has voiced in her political stance.
Despite the reported loss of followers, Marchiori continues to stand by her beliefs and advocate for equality and acceptance.
