She's totally been a game changer in the skateboarding world, destroying the streets, winning contests and opening doors for all the new skaters out there, especially the ladies.
In her new gig, she’ll help shape competitions, ranking systems, and event setups while making sure skaters from different regions have their voices heard. Plus, she’ll get to vote on important decisions that impact skateboarding globally.
World Skate President Sabatino Aracu sees her as a perfect fit for the job, and it’s clear why.
Bufoni has always led by example, whether she's shredding the streets or hitting the biggest events. Now, she’s ready to guide the future of skateboarding from behind the scenes.
World Skate posted, "World Skate are delighted to announce the appointment of Brazilian skateboarding superstar Letícia Bufoni to the Executive Board as Chair of the Skateboarding Technical Commission.
The most successful female skateboarder of all time, Letícia is one of the highest-profile skaters in the world.
As someone who has done more than most to change the perception of what women are capable of both within and without skateboarding, Letícia has inspired many young people around the globe to begin skateboarding in the first place.
Five-time X Games gold medallist, Tokyo Olympian, Guinness Book of World Records-holder, youth mentor; Letícia was a natural choice for appointment to the role by World Skate President Sabatino Aracu.
Leticia’s role as Chair of the Skateboarding Technical Commission will be both to advise on operational aspects of the World Skateboarding Tour such as contest formats, point allocations and rankings- as well as representing the views and ideas of the five continental Chairpeople who do likewise for their regions. The role carries full voting rights within our Executive Board, of which she becomes a member.
We spoke with Leticia on the advent of her announcement to give everyone a sense of
what she will bring to her new role."
