Disorder Skateboards amateur sponsored skater Julian Jeang-Agliardi is only 15 but he is already an up-and-coming talent that most skaters only dream about.
According to reports, he is now thinking about skating for the United States after hitting some rough patches with the French Federation.
Plan B Skateboards professional skateboarder Aurélien Giraud, a world champ, does not hold back when talking about him. He says Julian is like a Messi or a Cristiano of skateboarding. He is strong, talented, and only getting better. If France can keep him, it would be crazy to let that kind of skill slip away.
Julian was born to a French dad and an American mom and first repped France in March 2024, coming in 26th at the Dubai World Cup. By summer, he had taken the French senior title at just 14. But things with the French Federation have been messy.
His dad Yannick, who also coaches him, said it has been frustrating. Julian was being left out of training camps even though he was the champion.
Yannick remembers one competition when Julian was 12 and the only finalist in his group. A coach allegedly tried to block him from the French team. There were rumors, fights, and awkward moments that made it hard for the kid to focus. Yannick said, We can’t just sit back and let this happen. He has to be able to skate and grow without all that nonsense.
The new Federation head Ludovic Royé says things have changed and the doors are open. He told us that Julian and his dad have the freedom to choose the path where he can develop the most and that the French team will try to make it work if he comes back.
At the end of September, the Federation sent a letter to World Skate to release Julian officially. He stayed quiet when asked about it.
Yannick has been hustling for months to make the nationality switch happen. He says, I want Julian to hit his full potential and chase his dreams. If France is throwing roadblocks in his way, the United States is ready to welcome him.
Now the family is waiting to hear back from the International Federation. France is hoping they can sort something out, but if Julian skates for Team USA, they are losing a serious shot at an Olympic medal.
Julian has already had a huge 2025. He grabbed bronze at the X Games and got a spot in Street League, which is only for the top names in the game. Growing up in California, the home of skateboarding, he keeps leveling up year after year. Right now, it seems like wherever Julian goes next, he is about to make some serious noise.
