The Canadian skateboarding community is mourning as news spreads about the passing of Jeff Ferner, a true pioneer and founding member of the underground black metal Barrier Kult collective.

Ferner's influence on the world of skateboarding and his role in shaping the culture of barrier skating are immeasurable, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

As an OG member of Barrier Kult, he played a crucial role in shaping the collective's unique ethos and identity.

BA. KU. Propaganda, known for its unconventional approach to skateboarding and countercultural aesthetics, found in Ferner a driving force that propelled them to the forefront of underground skateboarding.

Barrier Kult posted. "Last week skateboarding lost one of the Barrier Kult’s earliest and dearest colleagues, and one of Deer Man’s favourite skateboarders and oldest friends.

They added. Jeff Ferner (rest in peace) was an 80’s obsessed skateboarder and bmx’er and one of the Okanagan’s long standing legends."

"He was the real deal, ultimate skate rat, essence of stoke." They said. "The loss of Jeff has sent shockwaves through BC’s skate community and we’re still in disbelief that he’s gone. Much love to Jeff and the rest of his skate/bmx community who continue to grieve him."
