Tyre Nichols, a beloved skateboarder from the Memphis skateboarding community, passed away recently due to five police officers brutally beating him up until he was hospitalized and died after three days.
His friends, family, and fans are in mourning and are raising funds for his memorial. A GoFundMe page has been launched to cover the costs of Nichols' memorial.
Nichols' mother RowVaughn Wells, has organized a GoFundMe and explained her decision to launch the fundraiser:
"My husband and I have had our entire world turned upside down by what happened to our son," Wells said. "We are two hardworking, loving parents, that now have to turn our full-time attention to seeking proper justice for our son, Tyre Nichols.
"In addition, we have yet to have the proper space to begin our grieving process, which will be long and burdensome." She said. "This fundraiser will help cover the costs of our mental health services. It will also cover time off from our 9-5 jobs because we do not have unlimited PTO. Additionally, we want to build a memorial skate park for Tyre, in honor of his love for skating and sunsets."
The skateboarding community is coming together to honor Nichols' and to show their support for his family. The memorial fund will be a way to celebrate his life and to remember the impact he had on so many people. By supporting the GoFundMe campaign, you can help ensure that his legacy lives on and that his memory is honored in the proper way.
By making a donation, you can help cover the costs. The skateboarding community and Nichols' friends, family, and fans are grateful for your support and generosity.
