Back in 2002, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena turned into a skateboarding battleground as the Globe World Cup brought together some of the heaviest names in the game.

Globe hyped it up as "the most insane weekend in Australian skateboarding history," and honestly, they were spot on.

The lineup made this contest one for the books. Chris Senn, Rune Glifberg, Ryan Sheckler, Bucky Lasek, Rick McCrank, Bob Burnquist, Chad Fernandez, Eric Koston, Jason Dill, Brian Anderson, and Vanessa Torres all brought their A-game. Each skater had their own style, keeping every run exciting to watch.

Every trick made the crowd feel like they were part of something special and in a way, they totally were. The early 2000s marked a golden era for skate contests, and this event is one of those legendary moments people still talk about.
