Evan Hernandez just turned 39 today. He was born on July 26, 1986. If you're an OG skate head, you probably remember his name.

Most people remember him from his early days riding for Baker Skateboards and putting out solid video parts that helped shape the style of the early 2000s.

He had the talent, the sponsors, and the recognition that many young skaters could only dream of.

But his life went in a completely different direction.

As we previously reported, Hernandez was sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison after pleading guilty to being involved in a drug trafficking case.

Authorities said he helped distribute methamphetamine and used Bitcoin to hide the money. It was a big case that got attention both for the charges and the fact that someone with a past in pro skateboarding was involved.

Now in 2025, Hernandez is still serving that sentence.

Based on how federal time works, including credits for good behavior and time served before sentencing, he is expected to be released sometime in 2030.

Some believe he could get out a little earlier depending on certain factors, but 2030 is the expected release year.

Since the sentencing, Hernandez has stayed completely off the radar. He has not made any public statements.

There are no social media updates or interviews. His name comes up once in a while on old skate forums or YouTube comment sections where people still talk about his clips and wonder what happened.

It is hard for many in the skate community to forget how smooth and natural his style was on a board.

He had something that stood out, and even though he disappeared from the scene long before his arrest, those memories are still there for a lot of skaters who grew up watching him.

Now that he is 39, there is still plenty of life left once he finishes his sentence. Whether or not he ever returns to skateboarding in some way is unknown.

Maybe he will stay out of the spotlight for good. Maybe he will reconnect with the scene in a different role.

Either way, he is getting closer to walking free. He turns 44 in the year he is expected to be released.
