Eddie Van Halen, the legendary guitarist and co founder of Van Halen, has passed away after a long battle with cancer.
While millions knew him for his music, Eddie also had a connection to skateboarding. During the 1980s, he was spotted riding a skateboard and was part of the scene during the decade.
His death was reported by his son Wolfgang Van Halen. His wife Janie and brother Alex Van Halen were also by his side at the time of his passing.
Wolfgang Van Halen posted a brief message on his Instagram account.

"I can't believe I'm having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning." Wolfgang wrote. "He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I've shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don't think I'll ever fully recover from this loss."
