Chuck Norris, the martial arts legend who once surprised fans by shredding on a skateboard in his late 30s, has passed away at 86.

His family shared that he died Thursday morning in Hawaii:

"It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace.

Chuck showed a side of himself that not everyone knew on May 1, 2025, posting a throwback photo from his late 30s during the filming of A Force of One. In the picture, he’s doing a handstand on a skateboard, showing that even a martial arts powerhouse liked to skate when he had the chance.

A source who spoke with Chuck the day before his passing said he was active, working out, and in great spirits, displaying the humor and determination fans had come to admire.

Most people remember Chuck for his martial arts skills and iconic action roles in the 1980s, including his portrayal of Texas Ranger Cordell Walker on the CBS TV show Walker, Texas Ranger. Even though he stepped back from acting in recent years, he appeared in movies like The Expendables 2 in 2012.

Chuck earned black belts in multiple martial arts, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1989, and became a real-life Texas Ranger in 2010. He also shared a close bond with Bruce Lee, training together in the 1960s and starring alongside him in the 1972 film The Way of the Dragon.

Even as a skateboarder in his late 30s, Chuck showed the same drive and skill that made him a household name. He wasn’t afraid to try something different and have fun along the way. Fans who remember him on the board as much as on the screen will continue to celebrate that side of the legend.

Chuck lived a full life, keeping family, faith, and his passions close. He will be missed by many. Rest in peace.
