As we previously reported, luxury fashion house Balenciaga has stepped into the world of skateboarding shoes, taking aim at big names like Nike and Adidas.
A source close to ShreddER has confirmed that Burberry Erry is expected to be the first official rider for Balenciaga’s skate line.
While Burberry Erry made his name modeling for Balenciaga, he’s also been holding it down in the skateboarding scene with his own style on the board.
So it makes sense they’d tap him to be the first to skate in their shoes. He’s already part of the brand, and now he’s bringing it to the streets.
This is not the first time a luxury company stepped into skateboarding.
Louis Vuitton did it too when the late creative director Virgil Abloh was still alive. He tapped pro skater Lucien Clarke and gave him a signature shoe.
That collaboration grabbed attention from both the fashion world and the skating scene. It showed that luxury brands were beginning to treat skating with more respect and not just use it for aesthetics.
Balenciaga seems to be following a similar path by choosing someone from within their own circle who actually skates.
With Burberry Erry on board, the streets might start looking a little more luxurious. It’s not just about looking good anymore, these shoes are about to blow up.
The official rollout date has not been confirmed, but all eyes will be on Burberry Erry once he laces up the new shoes. Core skaters aren't happy, but the newbies and fashionistas are waiting to see how they perform when they hit the streets.
