East Coast legend Brian Wenning has officially been released from prison as of May 16, 2025.
Known for his laid-back switch game, classic parts with Habitat and DC, and heavy influence in the early 2000s, Wenning’s return comes after serving time related to serious charges.
Wenning was arrested on October 27, 2021, facing three counts including endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a firearm for unlawful purposes, and making terroristic threats.
According to court documents, two firearm-related charges remained, while the other counts were dismissed.
He was sentenced under the Graves Act to five years in prison, with forty-two months of parole ineligibility.

Now that he’s out, reactions are slowly surfacing. One of the first came from fellow skater Antwuan Dixon, who posted a simple but meaningful “Welcome Home” with prayer emojis to his Instagram story.
Dixon, who’s been through his own share of trouble and has made a conscious effort to stay on a better path, seems hopeful about Wenning’s return.

Wenning represents the no-f*cks-given era. One where style mattered just as much as tricks, and East Coast footage felt raw and relatable.
His name faded more from video parts and more into headlines that had little to do with skating. Still, longtime fans remember the impact he had, and now that he’s out, some are wondering if he’ll reconnect with the skate world.
There’s no official word yet on what Wenning plans to do, and it's unclear if he’ll try to film again, reconnect with brands, or stay more low-key.
But those who grew up watching Photosynthesis or DC Video parts know that, at one point, he was among the smoothest out.
Only time will tell if Wenning decides to return to skating in a public way. For now, some of his old friends and fans are hoping he stays grounded, keeps good people around him, and finds something worth holding onto.
