Another core skate shop is getting ready to close, and this time it is Boo Johnson’s Pharmacy Long Beach.

The Long Beach shop has been part of the local skate scene for years, giving people a place to grab boards, shoes, clothes, accessories, and hang out with other skaters.
Now that chapter is coming to an end, with Pharmacy Long Beach announcing a final party at the shop on September 28.
The shop shared the news on social media while thanking everyone who supported it throughout the years.
“Thank you for all the support over these years, from popping up at our events, shouting us out on social media, and voting with your dollar in the shop.”
They also said they could not fully put into words how much they appreciate everyone who supported Pharmacy, so they wanted to throw one more party and create some more memories together.
Sales are already live, and the final party is set for September 28 at the shop.

For a local skate shop, closing is never just about a business shutting down. These places often become part of the daily lives of skaters.
People stop by after a sesh, pick up a new deck, run into homies, talk about spots, check out new stuff, or simply hang around for a while.
That is what makes the loss of another independent shop hit differently.
Core shops have been having a rough time for years as shopping habits change and larger retailers continue to take up more space in the market.
Big mall chains and corporate skate retailers have the money, locations, advertising, and reach that smaller shops often cannot compete with.
Independent shops have always had something different to offer.
They are usually tied closely to the local scene, support riders, host events, carry smaller brands, and give skaters a place that feels connected to their community.

Pharmacy Long Beach was part of that world.
Johnson is also not just some random shop owner who happened to open a retail store.
He has been deeply connected to skateboarding for years, and Pharmacy became an extension of that culture through its shop, events, products, and presence around Long Beach.
Now skaters have one more reason to show up on September 28.
The closing party gives everyone who supported Pharmacy a final chance to hang out at the shop, grab some deals, see familiar faces, and spend some time together before the doors close.

It is also a good excuse to support the shop one last time.
If you have ever bought something from Pharmacy, attended one of its events, followed the brand online, or simply stopped by to hang out, this is probably the last chance to do it at the Long Beach location.
The shop may be closing, but the homies who made Pharmacy what it was are still part of the Long Beach skate scene.
