Professional skateboarder Bam Margera will be featured in the upcoming Jackass 5, but fans should not expect new stunts from the Viva La Bam star.
As we previously reported, Margera was missing from the cast, and Johnny Knoxville did not mention him when announcing that the new film will be released this June.
The good news is that Margera will appear in the movie through a negotiated deal.
His scenes will come from previously recorded material from earlier Jackass productions.
The arrangement comes after Margera and Paramount Pictures reached an agreement to include the archival footage in the new film.
A representative for Paramount declined to comment on the arrangement, and Margera has not yet responded to requests for a statement.
Margera was a familiar presence during the original MTV Jackass series and was a key figure in the first three movies.
His unpredictable antics and daring stunts helped shape the identity of the franchise.
During the production of Jackass Forever in 2021, Margera only appeared briefly in one scene after being removed from most of the film.
His exit from the project led to a lawsuit against Paramount and several producers, including Johnny Knoxville and director Jeff Tremaine.
In the suit, Margera claimed that he was required to sign a wellness agreement and that he was unfairly terminated after a drug test detected substances he said were prescribed.
Though the lawsuit was later dropped, Margera continued to express frustration publicly and released a diss track in 2023 directed at his former co-stars.
Earlier this year, he confirmed in an interview that he had no plans to work with the Jackass crew again, citing the events surrounding his removal from Jackass Forever.
With the inclusion of archival footage in Jackass 5, audiences will still get to see Margera in the franchise without new stunt performances.
The decision allows the film to honor his legacy while respecting his choice not to participate in new scenes.
