As we previously reported, Olympic skateboarding star Nyjah Huston stirred things up when he complained about the flimsy quality of his bronze medal after celebrating.

He said that after a few weeks of partying with it, the medal started to rust, and that raised some eyebrows about how durable the medals from the Paris 2024 Games really are.

When Huston got back home, he took a closer look and saw what he thought was pretty poor craftsmanship. He pointed out how his medal seemed to fall apart way too fast, which led to some serious roasting from other skaters who called him a "crybaby."

Still, Nyjah’s complaints ended up kicking off a bigger convo about how the medals were made at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Over 100 athletes have since sent back their medals because they’re experiencing similar rust issues and wear just five months after the Games. Many of them are speaking out about how disappointing it is to see their medals damaged from just regular handling or everyday conditions.

According to reports, the medals are turning out to be in worse shape than anyone thought, showing off noticeable rust stains and signs of wear. It seems like the medals, which were made from a mix of metals, might have been prone to corrosion, especially if they got wet or were in humid conditions.

Over 100 athletes have returned their Paris 2024 Olympic medals within five months of the Games, citing rust and deterioration as major issues.

Prominent figures like American skateboarder Nyjah Huston and British diver Yasmin Harper shared images of their damaged medals.

In response, the French mint Monnaie de Paris has been dismissed, and organizers have pledged to replace the flawed medals for affected athletes.
