The alleged Scientology San Francisco leader Aaron Kyro recently shared his thoughts on why it feels like skateboarding is losing its momentum.
He kicked things off by mentioning the Hawk Vs. Wolf podcast situation. Apparently, skateboarding legends Tony Hawk and Jason Ellis are planning to stop the podcast in 2025 since it's not making enough cash to keep running.
Kyro then talked about what's up with the skate scene, comparing the podcast's struggles to his own YouTube channel.
Even though Hawk Vs. Wolf gets tons of views, he pointed out that just racking up views doesn't always mean making money.
As we previously reported, Kyro had to shut down the Braille warehouse and is now flying solo on his YouTube channel since all the other riders were removed. They then started the "Da Boyz" movement with a new channel about skating.
He reflected on how some folks think the decline started during the COVID boom, when skate products were flying off the shelves.
Once everyone got their stimulus checks and stocked up, sales plummeted, leaving brands with too much inventory and fewer buyers.
The Braille skate boss sees the way forward as bringing more people into skateboarding. He thinks that a bigger skate community would lead to more product sales, which might help the industry bounce back.
Whether or not he’s spot on, one thing’s for sure. Skateboarding is at a turning point, and it’ll be interesting to see where it heads next.
