As we previously reported, Chris Chann did his thing with his new part on Thrasher, and all the skaters were blown away, especially by his ender, which was a primo grind on a rail.

At the time, no one seemed to have done anything like it before.

But then Manuel “Mogley” Herrera came forward and proved that he was the first one to do it, documenting his entire journey along the way.

Mogley started getting into primo grinds back then and kept searching to see if the trick had ever been done. And yes, it was an NBD.

There was already a skater who had done a primo grind with the assistance of a wall, while another core head pulled one on a box, but neither was on a round rail.

He kept trying but had no luck, as his trucks kept getting stuck on the rail. So he had to find a wider one that wouldn't jam his trucks anymore.

By day 4, he was still working on the trick but eventually decided to head to the skatepark because it was taking up too much of his time.

On day 5, he pulled up to a different spot with a rail of the same width. He said it was one of the most important days of his journey, but his trucks got fucked up, bringing the session to an end.

He went on to day 6, but his trucks were still giving him problems. He kept working on it anyway, but couldn't find a flat bar that was suitable for the trick.

With no luck, he looked forward to day 7. But then Spiderman skater William Spencer chimed in, saying he had theorized about doing the trick for many years and was glad to see Mogley trying it.

Spencer advised him to use more riser pads, so that's exactly what he did on day 7. Still, he kept grinding without landing it. There was also water behind the rail, and he said he couldn't stop thinking about the red rail.

He eventually pulled up to a spot with more runway and almost landed it, but not quite. So he went back to the yellow rail to give it one more try.

He still couldn't get it, but he ended up livestreaming his sessions with huge support from his Discord server.

It took him a while, but he also got some help from skate legend Rodney Mullen, whom he had the chance to talk to after being invited to an event. Mullen advised him to try doing it frontside, but Mogley didn't listen at first.

He then started questioning why he was even doing this and reading comments from people saying the trick wasn't possible. Eventually, after one commenter suggested it, he got Johnny Giger on the phone.

Giger gave him some advice, telling him to go straight off the rail. Mogley admitted that the suggestion scared him, and by day 15, he said he was starting to lose his mind.

The good news is that he finally landed it on day 15. He actually landed two of them, although they weren't particularly long grinds. Still, those attempts gave him more confidence and helped build the muscle memory he needed.

On day 18, he removed the riser pads, but had no luck. By day 19, he started taking Mullen's advice more seriously and tried doing it frontside, which he said was easier. So instead of going for a kickflip, he kept working on a varial flip to primo grind.

Fast forward to day 25, and he was still trying to get the varial flip to primo grind. After a couple of hardships, he finally landed it!

So, it wasn't the kickflip to primo grind, but that's still hard as fuck!

He admitted that it wasn't the prettiest, but he proved that the trick was possible. He also knows he can make the grind longer, but at least we all know now that it's possible to land one.

Mogley also thanked everyone in the chat for sticking with him throughout the journey while he was out there trying to land the trick. He said he couldn't have done it without their support as he worked toward landing this gnarly primo grind.

Mogley Posted:

"The journey for my primo grind, I streamed almost every session."
