Skateboarding filmmaker Davonte Jolly is celebrating five years since the release of his first full-length skate film, GODSPEED.
Looking back, he misses the unity of bringing friends together to create something they could all be proud of.
Having full creative freedom, choosing his own music and including friends regardless of their sponsors made the project special.
This film showed what skateboarding can be when people come together for the love of it, without company rules getting in the way.
He hopes to keep that spirit alive, putting people first and everything else second.
Big ups to the good homie Jolly!

"Today marks 5 years since the release of my first full-length skate film GODSPEED. Time flys, but reflecting on that era of my life what i miss most was everyone just being on the same accord to accomplish one mission. Which was to make a film we were all proud of the way we wanted to. Thank you to all my brothers for life that gave their time and energy to make this film possible. All industry rules were out the window. Me being able to use whatever song i wanted, along with having all my friends be apart of it regardless of sponsors was a dream come true. I believe this video is a true representation of what skateboarding could be if everyone came together & the companies got out their own way lol What i believe translated the most from this film was the excitement everyone had to be apart of it & not feeling like it was an obligation. I’ll do my part to keep this spirit alive within skateboarding. The end statement of slide 4 is the reason i do what i do because i believe it applies to everything i choose to be apart of. Human first & everything else is secondary."
