Skateboarding legend PJ “Anantjeet Singh” Lad recently shared a deeply personal act of faith, spending 20 straight hours reciting Japji Sahib on the Goindwal Steps in India.
Japji Sahib is a sacred Sikh prayer written by Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru. For Sikhs, it is a daily prayer focused on remembering God, understanding His will and living with devotion.
Lad carried out the prayer at Goindwal Sahib in Punjab, home to a historic 84 step baoli, or stepwell, associated with Guru Amar Das, the third Sikh Guru.
The site holds deep importance for the Sikh faith and has been a place of prayer and pilgrimage for centuries.
According to Anantjeet’s post, he remained on the top step while reciting Japji Sahib for approximately 20 hours.
He described the experience as a yogic and dharmic accomplishment and thanked those who were there with him.
The purpose was not about skating or putting on a show.
It was an act of devotion and a personal expression of his faith in God, carried out at a place that has deep meaning within Sikhism.
For people who mainly know Anantjeet through skating, the post offers a glimpse into another part of his life.
Away from the board, his faith is an important part of who he is, and this experience gave him an opportunity to dedicate an extended period of time to prayer and connection with God.
