There are some skate videos and photos that look so good you have to stop for a second and take them in.
Jart Skateboards professional skateboarder Danny Leon may have just landed one of those shots.
Leon found the perfect location for a quarter pipe during the recent total solar eclipse, giving filmer Gonzalo Gonzalez De Vega and photographer Jose Angel Izquierdo the chance to capture something that is not exactly easy to recreate.
Leon went up the ramp and did a gnarly melon grab to fakie boned trick while the eclipse was happening behind him, creating an incredible image with the skater, board, sun and moon all coming together in one frame.
It was the kind of timing that had to be absolutely perfect.
The setup had to be right, the quarter pipe had to be in the right position, and Leon had to hit the trick at exactly the right moment.
Gonzalo and Jose were there to make sure the moment was captured from the best angles.
The eclipse itself made the whole thing even more unusual.
This was the first total solar eclipse visible from mainland Europe since 1999, with parts of Spain, Iceland, Greenland and Portugal experiencing a brief period of daytime darkness.
With millions of people looking toward the sky, Leon and his crew decided to make the occasion part of a skate session. The result is a photo that feels almost too perfectly timed to be real.
This might be one of the best uses of a quarter pipe during an eclipse we have ever seen.
“Total Eclipse Of The Heart” just got a whole new meaning in skateboarding, for sure!
RIP Bonnie Tyler!
