Zero Skateboards pro skater Kanaan Dern is back on top of the longest grind record after reclaiming the title just days after losing it.
As we previously reported, Kanaan first set the record with an incredible 230 feet (70.1 meters).

The accomplishment was celebrated across the skateboarding community, with fans and fellow pro skaters giving him credit for pulling off something that had never been done before.
That record didn't stand for long.
Shortly after, Red Bull pro rider Maxim Habanec raised the bar with a grind measuring 255 feet 10.9 inches (78 meters), taking over the longest grind record and becoming its new holder.

Kanaan wasn't ready to leave it there.
The Dern Brothers headed back to Castle Bam with one goal.
They had to get the record back.
Doing that wasn't as simple as trying again. The rail had to be extended, which meant extra work and extra money just to make an attempt that could beat Habanec's distance.
While Habanec had the support of Red Bull behind his attempt, the Dern Brothers continued doing things their own way.
They were determined to reclaim the record and were willing to put in the time to make it happen.
The attempt turned into a two day battle.
Kanaan spent around eight hours skating on the first day before returning the following day. About an hour into day two, everything finally came together.
There was one moment that almost changed how the accomplishment was captured on camera.
Dan Horan, who was handling the drone footage, asked Kanaan to wait just a couple of minutes so he could get into position.

Kanaan decided not to wait. He dropped in, locked into the rail, and completed the entire grind before the drone was ready, meaning the record setting attempt wasn't captured from the air.
The result was still enough to reclaim the title.
As of July 20, 2026, Kanaan Dern now holds the longest grind record at 256 feet 5 inches (78.16 meters), narrowly beating Habanec's previous distance.
The Dern Brothers shared the following about the accomplishment:
"In this video we break the World Record Longest 50 50 Grind on a Round Rail by a Skateboarder! Not only do we break this record once, but we went back and broke it a second time too! We also talk to Phil and April about some of their favorite memories from Castle Bam, we skate everything we can at Castle Bam and around West Chester, and we even have Darby Allin come out for a surprise visit!"
