The 43-year-old skater rapper, who has also spent years representing skateboarding, addressed the rumors after people began wondering why he missed the opening date of the tour and why reports claimed the couple had gotten engaged.
Wayne explained that while he and Cannon shared something special, they decided to go their separate ways. He also shut down the engagement rumors, saying they were never actually engaged despite reports that had been circulating since May.
During his message, Wayne said he chose to end the relationship because he did not want to become a burden to someone he cared about. His comments quickly spread across social media as fans reacted to the news.
Along with discussing his personal life, Wayne also explained why he missed the first stop of the tour in Maine.
He said he had been dealing with severe migraines that raised concerns about the risk of seizures, making it unsafe for him to perform that night.
Since then, Wayne has returned to the stage and continued the tour.
Some concertgoers were disappointed after he arrived late for a recent show in New Hampshire, but the cancelled Maine performance has already been moved to July 28.
His next scheduled appearance is set for July 16 in Des Moines, Iowa.
While most people know Lil Wayne for his legendary rap career, skateboarders have followed his love for skating for years.
He has never hidden how much time he spends on a board, often posting skate clips and making appearances at skateparks whenever his schedule allows.
Even with a career that has sold millions of records, Wayne has continued to support skateboarding and has earned respect from many skaters who appreciate that his interest goes far beyond a celebrity hobby.
From releasing skate footage to working with skateboard brands and showing up at skate events, Wayne has remained closely connected to the skateboarding community while balancing life as one of hip hop's biggest names.
Even as he deals with personal changes and continues his tour, you already know that both music and skateboarding remain major parts of his skate life.
