Deathwish Skateboards head honcho Erik Ellington recently sat down on The Nine Club Podcast and shared a long conversation about his time growing up, his early skate days, and how his life in skating developed through different phases in the industry.
He talked about moving around a lot when he was younger and how that shaped the way he connected with people and skating spots.
Those changes in location exposed him to different scenes and helped him get familiar with skating in a variety of environments.
That early exposure played a big part in how he adapted later when things started getting more serious in his skating career.
One of the early big moments in his career came when Scott Copelman brought him over to Zero Skateboards.
Erik explained how that opportunity opened doors for him, but it also came with pressure and expectations.
At one point, things got tense enough that he almost lost his spot on the team. He shared how that situation forced him to take a closer look at his attitude and commitment at the time.
But wait, we will never spoil you guys so you have to watch the full interview below. Enjoy!
