Professional skateboarder Terry Kennedy is officially out of prison and has shared his first words since being released.
After spending time behind bars, TK marked the moment by giving thanks to Allah and wishing everyone a happy new year.
As previously reported, the former Baker Skateboards pro skater was incarcerated following a tragic incident involving his close friend Josiah Kassahun, who was attacked by TK and later passed away due to the injuries he suffered.
The case deeply affected many people in and outside the skateboarding community, and it has remained a heavy subject since it happened.
TK has been in prison since then and served his sentence.
According to close source to ShreddER, his conduct while incarcerated played a role in him being granted parole. With his release, he is now beginning the next chapter of his life.
Shortly after getting out, Terry Kennedy took to social media to share several messages:
One of his posts read, “The Redemption Story… FINALLY FREE… All Praises to Allah.” He followed that with another message saying, “HAPPY NEW YEARS. ALL PRAISE TO ALLAH.” In a later post, he added, “ROAD TO REDEMPTION… HAPPY NEW YEARS.”
The posts suggest that faith has become a central part of his life.
TK has openly embraced Islam, and those close to him say he plans to continue practicing as a devoted Muslim.
Now that he is free, he can spend time praying in mosques, reconnecting with his beliefs, and focusing on staying on the right path.
At this point, TK does not appear to have any sponsors.
That said, it would not be surprising to see interviews surface in the near future or messages of support from people he once skated with.
Some fans believe he could eventually launch a personal project or brand if he chooses to move in that direction.
For now, the focus seems to be on rebuilding his life.
That includes staying out of trouble, becoming a law abiding citizen, and returning to skating simply for the love of it rather than for fame or contracts.
His release has led to mixed feelings, from relief among supporters to continued reflection on the past. What comes next will depend on the choices he makes moving forward.
Welcome home, TK.
