OG pro skater Brian Wenning recently shared on social media “The prayers go up and the blessings come down” along with a single word College.
Wenning who spent years in prison, has decided to enroll in college following a professional skateboarding career that spanned years of competitions, tours, and sponsorships.
For those who know him, Wenning is switching lanes, leaving the skate life and past struggles behind to hit the books and build something new.
Not everybody is feeling it. Some skaters are side-eyeing him, wondering why he is switching lanes. A few even said it is a waste, thinking that fame and the skate life should have been enough for Wenning.
As we previously reported, pro skater and rapper Jordan Maxham has argued that many professional skaters struggle financially unless they are among the top-tier sponsored athletes.
Maxham has suggested that trade school or alternative paths can sometimes provide more stable opportunities than pursuing skateboarding full time.
For Wenning, college seems to represent an opportunity to explore new interests, build skills, and invest in a future that goes beyond what he has accomplished on a skateboard.
His post got everybody talking, some showing love and some throwing shade, but it just proves the skateboard world is always talking about what comes next when the boards are put down.
