Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk dropped by Late Night with Seth Meyers and, as expected, the conversation was a great mix of laughs, nostalgia, and a few moments that made you go, “Wait, what?” They touched on everything from the legacy of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater to skateboarding in the Olympics and some funny parenting moments.
But our favorite part of the conversation, and honestly any time it comes up, is hearing all the stories about people who straight up do not believe he’s actually Tony Hawk when they see him in public. It certainly got a good laugh out of Seth.
Outside of that comedy gold, they talked about the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. It just dropped and depending on who you ask, it’s all anyone in the skateboarding or gaming community is talking about right now. The hype is real.
They also dove into skateboarding’s spot in the Olympics. The Birdman talked about how wild it is to see something he once did in empty parking lots now broadcast on a global stage.
He’s helped out as an advisor and was excited to see younger skaters getting a spotlight and opportunities that just weren’t there when he was coming up.
