Skateboarding legend Guy Mariano just dropped something truly special into the hands of the Skateboarding Hall of Fame and Museum: a large-scale painting by Lance Mountain, created back in 2002.
The piece is based on one of Mariano’s most iconic photos from Skateboarder Magazine, shot by none other than Spike Jonze.
The Skateboarding Hall of Fame and Museum shared the news on Instagram, giving a huge thanks to Mariano for the donation:
"Amazing donation from 2018 SHoF Inductee @guymariano donated his large painting by @lancemountain from 2002 of his Skateboarder Mag pic by @spikejonze Thanks for the support Guy we’ll give it a great home! #skateboardinghalloffame"
Mariano, who was inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2018, has always carried a deep respect for skate culture and those who helped shape it.
This donation feels like a nod to those connections and a way of giving something back to the community that’s meant so much to him.
No word yet on where exactly it’ll hang in the Hall, but one thing’s for sure — it’s in good hands.
