A skateboarder was caught on camera helping the crowd vandalize and destroying a Waymo robot taxi, which had been targeted due to the company's impact on jobs.
According to reports, vandals in the city's Chinatown neighborhood targeted the Waymo vehicle, breaking its windows and igniting fireworks inside.
The incident unfolded on Jackson Street near Grant Street, creating a spectacle that marred the festive atmosphere.
Waymo expressed its intent to resume services on Sunday, ensuring the continuity of its autonomous taxi operations in the city.
Waymo stated. "We are working closely with local safety officials to respond to the situation."
