Skateboarding filmmakers are one of the essential parts of skate videos, and just like the old saying goes, "Behind every skateboarder, there's a great filmmaker." Being a skate filmer takes guts to keep showing up even though there's no money involved.
According to Erik Bragg, filmers always get an ex-deal or "exchange deal" with products such as hats, shoes, or even boards.
On the other hand, Illegal Civ filmer Dalton Palacio said that he has been trying to film his stuff and said it's hard. When he got asked by Jemkem about the situation on IC, he said, "I just saw the opportunity, and I was like, "Fuck it."
Palacio also addressed what went down behind the scenes of the commotion on Illegal Civ, "Nothing crazy really." He said. "It's pretty simple. Logan wants to get his clips back type shit. We've been filming this video for about a year."
He added. "It went downhill after that vlog and the Gifted Hater shit. That's probably what started the madness of everybody's reaction and shit. It kinda fucked up everybody that was in the video. But really, everything was going kinda good, to be honest, until the Logan post."
Concerning the 700k, Palacio said that Logan is only 16 and still naive about the skate industry and was asking to have his footage back. "And then Mikey was just like, $700k type shit." He explained. "I had nothing to do with that. I know my name is in the screenshot, and I even asked him, "Bruh, why would you include my name in that?"
"It just doesn't make any sense what's going on, so I just got away from all that shit." He added. "I didn't know anything about the $700k thing until Logan sent me the screenshot. I was like, "What the fuck?" I'm pretty sure he was just trolling."
Since Palacio has a contract with Mikey Alfred and Illegal Civ, everything he films goes straight to the brand. The contract states he is getting paid, and whatever he films must go to Alfred. "I signed that shit," He said.
The filmer also said that the rest of the team in the vlog left and he thinks that "Hell Week" is still coming out. "I tried talking to Mikey yesterday," Palacio said. "I tried to buy the rights to the footage back. I asked him, all jokes aside, how much would it really cost to buy Logan and Joey's footage back? I just got blocked."
