Portland’s skate scene wouldn’t be the same without Willis Kimbel.
In the new video from Rockstar Energy’s The Platfrm, Creature Skateboards’ pro skater Willis Kimbel returns to his hometown to show how he keeps the city rolling. He isn’t just out there landing tricks, he’s making sure Portland keeps skating.
Born and raised in the city, Willis has seen streets and parks change over the years.
He’s watched shops close, ramps disappear, and favorite spots get taken over. Instead of stepping back, he decided to step up.
Willis opened Rip’s Co. Skateshop in 2024 after one of the city’s local skate shops shut down. He wanted to create a place where skaters could meet, grab gear, and hang out without feeling out of place.
It’s more than a shop; it’s a hangout, a meeting point, and a little home base for anyone rolling through.
He also helped bring Q-Side to life. On paper, it’s just a skate spot, but anyone who’s been there knows it took hustle, phone calls, and late nights to make it happen.
Make sure to watch the video and don't forget to share with the homies. Enjoy!
