The longtime fan favorite was hospitalized following the incident and has since been recovering.
The good news is that Tommy is doing well and is receiving the care he needs. The downside is that the injury will require surgery, rehabilitation, and plenty of time away from his skateboard.
Anyone who has dealt with a serious injury understands how quickly medical bills and everyday expenses can pile up, especially when work and skating are put on hold.
That is why friends, supporters, and members of the skateboarding community are coming together to help out.
Tender Hooligan has announced a special benefit jam for Tommy Sandoval, giving friends and fans an opportunity to show support while helping raise funds for his recovery.

The event will feature raffles with products donated by skate companies and artists, along with music from several DJs.
Tommy himself is also expected to stop by and play a guest DJ set.
For those attending, a $20 donation at the door will get you raffle tickets, with all proceeds going directly to Tommy and his family.
It is a simple way for the community to come together and lend a hand during a difficult time.
Tender Hooligan shared the following message:
"Join us on Sunday June 28th as we come together to lend a hand to the legend @tommysandoval_619 If you didn’t know, Tommy took a bad one and will need surgery, rehabilitation and recovery time and with being off the board for the next few months or so things tend to get a lil tighter and it was only right that we step up and help any way we can! We will be raffling of product from some really rad companies and artists as well as some rad djs alongside Mr. Sandoval will be playing a guest set! $20 Donation at the door gets you the raffle tickets and ALL PROCEEDS go to Tommy and his family
Hope to see you there!!!"
Tommy has spent years entertaining skateboarders around the world with his gnarly approach and willingness to charge some of the biggest rails and gaps imaginable.
Now the community is returning the favor by showing up for one of its own.
If you are in the area and want to support Tommy during his recovery, this is a great opportunity to do it.
