A TikTok video featuring skater Jimmy Sundays caused quite a stir online.
In the clip, Jimmy starts off with a clean 360 flip right on the McDonald's floor, then takes things up a notch by skating on the counter itself.
It’s clear from the video that the McDonald's manager wasn’t too happy about it and tried to get him to leave, but Jimmy kept going with his tricks anyway.
Unsurprisingly, the skateboarding community wasn’t thrilled. Many skaters voiced their disappointment, saying things like, “Making skaters look bad,” and, “This is why people hate us.” It seems a lot of them feel that actions like this don’t help the image of skateboarders and could make it harder for others to enjoy skating in public spaces.
On the other hand, some viewers outside the skate world found the video entertaining or impressive, but most agreed that skating inside a restaurant, especially on counters where food is served, crosses a line for hygiene and respect.
The whole incident has sparked a conversation about how skaters interact with public spaces and the importance of respecting business property.
While skating is all about creativity and style, doing it in places where it can cause damage or upset others can backfire on the community as a whole.
