Queer-owned skateboarding brands are popping off right now, and the latest team-up is proof of just how creative and inclusive things are getting.
There Skateboards, already known for its openly LGBTQIA+ crew and gnarly design style, has joined forces with a fresh new face in the scene - Kitty Cat Skateboards.
Kitty Cat is a new trans-led brand making its debut with a whole lot of personality, and this collab is its first major move.
Together with There, they’re rolling out a limited edition board design created especially for There’s pro skaters.
The announcement comes with even more good news.
A new video is on the way to celebrate the partnership with Darkslide Stick Boards. No teasers yet, but judging by both brands’ past clips, expect something creative.
Pro skater Marie Decourcy, who rides for There, gave fans a first look at the new board on social media.
She posed in a bikini holding the board, and her post quickly caught attention, with support pouring in from fans and other skaters.
This collab follows a growing movement of queer and trans representation in skateboarding. The Boonies CEO Tim Pool have also been stepping up with projects like “Be Gay” deck graphics, helping open more doors in the community.
Kitty Cat Skateboards might be the new kid on the block, but teaming up with There right out the gate sends a clear message. They’re proud!
Keep an eye out for the full video drop soon.
