Competitive contest girl skateboarder Taylor Silverman has been fighting for her rights after losing to a transgender skateboarder in a skateboarding competition last year.
The LGBTQIA+ community called her a sore loser and transphobic for voicing her opinion when she said biological males are winning women's prize money.
The contest girl skateboarder sparked controversy and became a hate figure among progressives, but that didn't stop her from fighting as she became a public speaker for women's rights in sports.
Some say that the "Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act" was designed to protect fairness in women's sports, but it should not be used to discriminate against transgender individuals.
Many transgender athletes claim that they have faced significant barriers in sports, including exclusion, harassment, and discrimination.
Hence, the House Republicans on Thursday passed a bill that seeks to prohibit transgender women and girls from participating in female athletic programs, moving to the national stage an issue that has thus far mainly played out in state legislatures and individual sports associations.
Silverman took to Instagram and celebrated her victory with other athletes. "Today, the US House passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which affirms that allowing males to compete on women’s teams is a violation of Title IX."
She added. "I hope this also serves as an example and an inspiration to governing bodies and contest organizers of independently organized sports like skateboarding to take a stand for female athletes too."
"Female athletes deserve fairness, equal opportunity, and respect regardless of which sport they love." Silverman said.
