Female competitive contest skateboarder Taylor Silverman blasted Exposure Skate again and alleged that they were advertising their organization as a women's skateboarding event when she joined their competition last 2018.
According to the Exposure Skate website, they are advocating a women's benefit event each year to bring opportunity and visibility to women, trans and nonbinary skaters who embody courage and strength.
Over 170 skaters from around the world come to Encinitas, California (near San Diego) for the opportunity to share their skateboarding skills on a global stage. The event also serves as a benefit for survivors of domestic violence.
Hence, Silverman is fighting for what she believes in. "My first time competing against a male (23rd place) in a women's contest qualifier Exposure skate 2018," she said. "At the time, Exposure was advertised as a women's event."
She added. "I didn't have much experience skating contests but I did have enough common sense to know this was unfair. I figured it would be a one time issue that everyone was too uncomfortable to do anything about, but now Exposure proudly include males, making the contest completely unfair for the female athletes of whom it was originally intended for."
Exposure Skate did not immediately respond to any of the comments on their social media accounts nor Silverman's claims.
