Former Boones Skateboards pro skateboarder Taylor Silverman is showing her support for former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom after he was removed from a WNBA game and later filed a federal lawsuit against the Chicago Sky.

Silverman has spent years speaking publicly about women’s competitions and transgender participation in athletics.

She became a prominent voice in the debate after losing a skateboarding contest to transgender competitor Lillian Gallagher, an experience that led her to advocate for what she calls the protection of women’s categories.

Her activism eventually drew attention from Tim Pool, who supported her and helped bring her into the professional ranks of Boonies Skateboards.

Although her time with the brand has since ended, Silverman has continued speaking about the issue across social media.

Now she is backing Kanter Freedom as he takes his dispute with the Chicago Sky to court.

According to reports, Kanter Freedom filed a 15 page complaint in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Thursday. The former NBA center claims that his First Amendment rights were violated after he was removed from a Sky game and later banned from the arena.

Silverman responded by showing her support for Kanter Freedom, whose case centers on the circumstances surrounding his removal from Wintrust Arena.

The incident happened on August 23 during a game between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever. Kanter Freedom attended the game wearing a shirt that read, “WOMAN noun. adult human female.”

With 1:22 remaining in the third quarter, Kanter Freedom became involved in a verbal exchange with Sky guard Natasha Cloud. Security then escorted him from the arena.

Two days later, Sky owner Michael Alter announced that Kanter Freedom had been given an indefinite ban from the arena. Alter said Kanter Freedom could pose a threat and alleged that he had started moving toward the court and players before security intervened.

Kanter Freedom disputes that account.

Kanter Freedom Posted:

"🚨SEE YOU IN COURT!!!
Just filed a federal complaint.

I’m taking legal action over my ejection from the @chicagosky game while peacefully exercising my First Amendment rights.

My T-shirt did what the whole @wnba apparently couldn’t: define a woman.

No threats. No violence. Just biology.

And somehow, that required a security escort.

You don’t have to agree with my speech but you don’t get to silence me for it.

I will not be intimidated.
I will not be silenced.

I will continue to stand for women and defend free speech."

His lawsuit argues that his removal and subsequent ban were retaliation for protected speech. The complaint names the Chicago Sky, the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, which operates Wintrust Arena, and the city of Chicago as defendants.

The former NBA player has been outspoken about transgender participation in women’s athletics for months. His public campaign has included appearances, social media posts and several provocative moves aimed at drawing attention to the debate surrounding eligibility in women’s leagues.

He also recently declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft, an announcement he presented as a publicity stunt connected to his criticism of transgender inclusion in the league.

Silverman’s support puts two prominent figures who have spoken against transgender participation in women’s athletics on the same side of another public dispute.

The issue is part of Silverman’s cause, which she has continued to discuss since her own experience in competitive skateboarding. For Kanter Freedom, the current fight has shifted from public statements to a federal courtroom.

Neither the Chicago Sky nor the WNBA has publicly commented on the lawsuit.
